Peg people

So over the past few days, Glasgow has been having really nice weather and I've been spending a lot of time in the back garden. So here's the result, meet Peggy (the peg) enjoying the sun with her buttercup hat.

Jacqueline Wilson inspired birthday card

Another hand made card post. My cousin is a huge fan of the author Jacqueline Wilson in particular the children's book 'candyfloss'. After researching the book cover design by Nick Sharratt, I got to work on her birthday card. I tried to use aspects of the book cover but created my own character version of my cousin, which she loved!

VW Camper

So today I made a birthday card for my boyfriends grandmother, she is a huge lover of the Volkswagen camper vans and the green ones in particular and yes her name is Eunice. Wish I'd have had time for a better photograph.

Going Plural

So before seeing Wreck it Ralph in the cinema, an advert was shown in the previews. Its a campaign created by Toyota for their new Hybrid, the Prius. Its all about finding a new name for more than one Prius. Its a really catchy song and I like the simple animation used.

Robot Valentines

I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's and all the money it costs (also it shouldn't all be about one day). So this year, I decided to save some money and make my card. My boyfriend is a big fan of robots and online I've seen examples of a chocolate robot, where the body is made of a bar of chocolate so I got some Bournville (my boyfriends favourite) wrapped it in normal kitchen foil and made it into the robot I normally draw for him (plus a love heart to make it seem a little romantic). To keep with the theme, I had some old tags laying around, which I stuck a miniature version of the robot onto. I kept the colours the same and since I had some time I made a little pattern to place inside the envelope. All in all I'm happy with the outcome. I think I'll do this from now on. Not only did it save me money but I wouldn't have found a card I liked better. I apologise in advance for the rushed photographs, but I had to get it done before he came home!

Happy Valentine's!

DIY Wedding

So my friend from university is getting married and has her mum is making her invitations, so I started looking for inspiration for her. Weddings are so much more personal and creative than they used to be. They aren't all about frills and flowers. So many creative, unique ideas that will get them saving the date in no time. I've listed a few of the best one's I found. If planning your own wedding check out bespoke bride. Some great idea's on there!

And something new.

There is loads of tutorials online on how to make these, considering that some of the ones I have seen have been priced at £150 plus. Also on various sites including Favor Fairy, Wedding Star and I've seen really cute wedding favors, no more almonds thank goodness.

DIY Valentine

So with February approaching I thought I'd post a sample of some lovely DIY ideas I found. Even though I think Valentines is over rated, I do like the idea of making your own card. If you can, it can be more personal and creative. But hay it doesn't have to be just for Valentine's day.

First off is the pop up pixel love heart card. Clever idea and perfect for any gamer. All credit to Minieco for this one and the tutorial can be found here.

This next one is a Valentines gift box, but could easily be adapted for something else. The free printable template is available here.

For all tech/robot lovers, this next one is great. This Robot is made from a mini chocolate bar. Awesome! Instructions here.

Mini Visions

While looking through the hidden people. I came across this really amazing duo called Minimiam. I loved their work instantly, so creative and actually reminded me of the the movie The Borrowers. However one clear difference is food. I love the detail and the compositions and the work going into it…Mind blowing and such lovely 'little' displays of art.

Also while on the subject of mini, I recently purchased a lovely book by Slinkachu called Little People in the city. His street art is an on going project which he sets up these little scenes all around the world. The Little People blog can be found here.
