Peg people

So over the past few days, Glasgow has been having really nice weather and I've been spending a lot of time in the back garden. So here's the result, meet Peggy (the peg) enjoying the sun with her buttercup hat.

Jacqueline Wilson inspired birthday card

Another hand made card post. My cousin is a huge fan of the author Jacqueline Wilson in particular the children's book 'candyfloss'. After researching the book cover design by Nick Sharratt, I got to work on her birthday card. I tried to use aspects of the book cover but created my own character version of my cousin, which she loved!

DIY plant pots

Before

Instead of putting my tins into the normal recycling, I decided to reuse instead as little plant pots. I had some left over metal paint and some thick twine. I started by making numerous holes on the bottom of the tins for drainage.

I found that the sharp tip of a corkscrew worked best. I then painted it with the metal paint and when it was dry decorated it with twine and added a bow for good measure.

VW Camper

So today I made a birthday card for my boyfriends grandmother, she is a huge lover of the Volkswagen camper vans and the green ones in particular and yes her name is Eunice. Wish I'd have had time for a better photograph.

Going Plural

So before seeing Wreck it Ralph in the cinema, an advert was shown in the previews. Its a campaign created by Toyota for their new Hybrid, the Prius. Its all about finding a new name for more than one Prius. Its a really catchy song and I like the simple animation used.

Robot Valentines

I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's and all the money it costs (also it shouldn't all be about one day). So this year, I decided to save some money and make my card. My boyfriend is a big fan of robots and online I've seen examples of a chocolate robot, where the body is made of a bar of chocolate so I got some Bournville (my boyfriends favourite) wrapped it in normal kitchen foil and made it into the robot I normally draw for him (plus a love heart to make it seem a little romantic). To keep with the theme, I had some old tags laying around, which I stuck a miniature version of the robot onto. I kept the colours the same and since I had some time I made a little pattern to place inside the envelope. All in all I'm happy with the outcome. I think I'll do this from now on. Not only did it save me money but I wouldn't have found a card I liked better. I apologise in advance for the rushed photographs, but I had to get it done before he came home!

Happy Valentine's!
